What students will get out of these events

Each event will enable students to both develop their enterprise competencies, and their Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills as:

  • independent enquirers
  • creative thinkers
  • reflective learners
  • team workers
  • self-managers
  • effective participators.

The process will incorporate:

·               problem-solving and creative thinking:  the teams will be given a precise brief, requiring them to come up with enterprise ideas to creatively respond to a challenge and solve problems;

·               rising to the challenge: challenges will be directly related to taking forward an enterprise / business idea and will be designed to develop business understanding and enterprise skills. Central events in July and October, business coaches and specifically- designed materials will all support development of their enterprise idea, at the same time building their enterprise understanding, knowledge and competencies.

·               plan – do – review: challenges require students to develop their project management, planning and organisation skills and financial awareness, and to constantly check where they are and what they need to do next;

·               presentation:  the challenge will require teams to develop their communication and presentation skills to effectively and creatively present their enterprise idea and sell their product or service, thereby developing their confidence and communication skills;

·               Enterprise Oscars:  the event will close with an award ceremony, with participants being awarded “Oscars” in different categories in recognition of their achievements.
